Read Guide →Pinpoint is a strategic board game played on a 10x10 grid where 2-4 players compete to score the most points by forming patterns with colored pins. The game combines tactical placement, pattern recognition, and strategic blocking to create an engaging multiplayer experience. Players take turns placing colored pins on the board, forming lines, squares, and crosses to score points while preventing opponents from doing the same.
Points are scored by forming patterns with pins of the same color. Patterns can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal:
Four pins of the same color forming a 2x2 square:
Five pins of the same color forming a plus sign:
Joker pins are wild cards that can represent any color. When you play a Joker, you choose which color it becomes. Once placed, the Joker turns black and permanently counts as that chosen color for all scoring purposes. Use Jokers strategically to complete high-scoring patterns or block opponents.
This is the game-changing mechanic! When you form a line of 6 or more pins of the same color, those pins reverse to their opposite color: Red becomes Green, Green becomes Red, Purple becomes Yellow, and Yellow becomes Purple. This reversal can dramatically change the board state, disrupting opponent patterns while potentially creating new scoring opportunities for you. Master the reversal mechanic to dominate the game!
The four section centers (where the blue grid lines intersect) are the most valuable positions on the board. Squares and crosses placed on these centers score double points. Always consider center positions when planning your moves.
Don't rush to complete patterns. Start by placing pins that can extend in multiple directions. A pin that can grow into a line horizontally, vertically, or diagonally gives you more flexibility with future hands.
Pay attention to what colors your opponents are building. If you see someone close to completing a high-scoring pattern, consider blocking them even if it means sacrificing your own scoring opportunity that turn.
Position your pins so that you have multiple ways to score on your next turn. If you have two potential 3-lines that could become 4-lines, your opponent can only block one, guaranteeing you points.
Many players focus on horizontal and vertical lines, making diagonal patterns easier to build. Diagonal lines are just as valuable and often overlooked by opponents, giving you an edge.
Try to dominate one or two sections rather than spreading yourself thin across all four. Controlling a section makes it easier to build bonus-scoring squares and crosses on the center points.
Plan 6-line reversals several turns in advance. Build a 4 or 5-line in a color, then wait for the right moment to complete it. The reversal can flip the entire board state in your favor, especially if it disrupts opponent patterns.
Look for positions where a single pin can complete multiple patterns simultaneously. Placing a pin that completes both a line and contributes to a square or cross maximizes your scoring efficiency.
Use Jokers not just for scoring, but for board control. A well-placed Joker can simultaneously complete your pattern and block an opponent's potential move, giving you a 2-for-1 advantage.
Train yourself to instantly recognize potential patterns. The faster you can spot a 3-line that could become a 6-line reversal or a position that could form a center square, the better your decisions will be.

Focus on the blue grid lines that divide the board into sections
The game board is a 10×10 grid containing 100 cells where you can place pins.
The board is divided by blue grid lines into 9 sections (3×3 arrangement). These lines are crucial for scoring bonuses with certain patterns.
Each of the 9 sections has a center point. Placing 2×2 squares at these centers awards double points (8 instead of 4).
How to select pins and place them on the board
At the bottom of the screen, you'll see your hand of colored pins. Tap a pin to select it.
After selecting a pin from your hand, tap any empty cell on the board to place it there.
Your current score and your opponent's score are shown at the top. The active player's score is highlighted.
You can undo your last move using the undo button. Use it strategically to improve your position.
Pin types and basic placement rules
There are 4 pin colors: Red, Green, Purple, and Yellow. Each color scores independently.
Joker pins (multicolored) can be placed as any color. After placement, they turn black and count as that color for scoring.
Four "dress pins" are pre-placed on the board at the start of the game. These cannot be moved and serve as starting points for scoring.
You can place a pin on any empty cell. Strategic placement near pins of the same color maximizes your score.
Scoring with straight lines (1-6+ pins)
Pins of the same color in a straight line (row, column, or diagonal) score points.
A single pin can score in multiple lines simultaneously (horizontal + vertical + diagonal).
2×2 squares score 4 points, or 8 in section centers
Four pins of the same color forming a 2×2 square score 4 points.
If a 2×2 square is centered on a section center (where blue grid lines intersect), it scores 8 points instead of 4.
Pins in a square can also score for lines, so strategic square placement can yield high scores.
Plus-shaped scoring (5 points, or 10 on blue grid lines)
Five pins of the same color in a plus (+) shape score 5 points.
If the center pin of the cross is on a blue grid line, the cross scores 10 points instead of 5.
A cross consists of a center pin with one pin directly above, below, left, and right of it.
Jokers turn black after use, 6-line reversal
When you place a joker pin, you choose which color it becomes. After placement, it turns black and permanently counts as that color.
When you complete a line of 6 or more pins of the same color, all those pins reverse to the opposite color:
This reversal can dramatically change the board state and scoring opportunities.
The 6-line still scores 10 points before reversing. After reversal, the pins may create new scoring opportunities in their new color.
Turn order and winning conditions
Players alternate turns. On your turn, select a pin from your hand and place it on an empty cell.
After placing all pins from your hand, you receive a new hand of 4 random pins (including possible jokers).
The game ends when the board is full (all 100 cells occupied) or when no more moves are possible.
The player with the highest total score wins. In case of a tie, the game is a draw.
