How to Play Pinpoint

Master the strategic pin placement game where colours count

🎯 Game Overview

Pinpoint is a strategic board game played on a 10x10 grid where 2-4 players compete to score the most points by forming patterns with colored pins. The game combines tactical placement, pattern recognition, and strategic blocking to create an engaging multiplayer experience.

Objective: Score the most points by creating lines, squares, and crosses with pins of the same color while preventing opponents from doing the same.

📋 Basic Rules

  1. The Board: The game is played on a 10x10 grid divided into four 5x5 sections. Each section has a center point that provides bonus scoring opportunities.
  2. Taking Turns: Players take turns placing one pin from their hand onto any empty cell on the board. The game proceeds clockwise around the table.
  3. Your Hand: Each player starts with 4 colored pins. After playing all 4 pins, you automatically receive a new hand of 4 pins.
  4. Pin Colors: There are four standard pin colors: Red, Green, Purple, and Yellow. Additionally, special Joker pins can be played as any color.
  5. Winning: The game ends when the board is completely filled or no more valid moves can be made. The player with the highest total score wins!

💯 Scoring Patterns

Points are scored by forming patterns with pins of the same color. Patterns can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.

🃏 Special Rules

Joker Pins

Joker pins are wild cards that can represent any color. When you play a Joker, you choose which color it becomes. Once placed, the Joker turns black and permanently counts as that chosen color for all scoring purposes. Use Jokers strategically to complete high-scoring patterns or block opponents.

6-Line Color Reversal

This is the game-changing mechanic!

When you form a line of 6 or more pins of the same color, those pins reverse to their opposite color:

  • Red ↔ Green
  • Purple ↔ Yellow

This reversal can dramatically change the board state, disrupting opponent patterns while potentially creating new scoring opportunities for you. Master the reversal mechanic to dominate the game!
